Choosing to be a Seventh Day Adventist was no easy decision. Holiness and Seventh Day Adventist are similar in several ways but also heavens apart.
The Holiness church meets every Wednesday and Sunday. They also partake in Sunday school for the children and adults. Children go to their class rooms and are taught about Jesus and the adults stay together to discuss their lesson, as well.
Some of the Holiness choose not to follow the teachings of the Old Testament as it discusses the how to eat and keep the body healthy.
Speaking in tongues is very big in the Holiness church. The preacher will state that speaking in tongues is a message from God, but is it? They believe that the Sabbath should be kept in accordance to the Ten Commandments. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.
Children also attend Sabbath school and are taught stories of the bible. The SDA believe that talking in tongues is gibberish and that when it is mentioned in the bible; it merely means that a foreign language is being spoken, like speaking Spanish.
Just as 1 Corinthians Speaking gibberish only brings attention to oneself and not putting the attention on the church. Being a part of both congregations; growing up Holiness and deciding as an adult being a Seventh Day Adventist has been a long journey. Both churches have their pros and cons and deciding where to attend is a personal choice.
